GraubĂĽnden: A Sacred Setting

This alpine region is one of Switzerland’s most awe-inspiring — a place where the mountains whisper ancient truths, and forests breathe serenity.

The air is clear, the rivers sing, and the land itself invites stillness.

Here, you won’t just walk through nature — you’ll walk through yourself.

“GraubĂĽnden is not just a destination — it’s a reflection, a reminder, and a revelation.”

— Swami Aniruddha

Description

A Journey Together

The essence of Sangha is walking together — physically, emotionally, and spiritually. In challenging times, people come together to lift each other up. This retreat is a shared journey through breathtaking landscapes and inner spaces, guided by devotion, silence, and joy. We will embrace nature as our temple — the sun, the wind, the rain — not as obstacles, but as companions. Through Bhakti and Sangha, we transform challenges into devotion and find peace in simplicity. Every moment becomes a prayer, every step a reminder: we are never alone. “It is often through challenges—both physical and mental—that we demonstrate the strength of our path and how deeply our Guru’s teachings are rooted within us.” — Shraddhananda “Every moment is remembrance of the greatness of God and Gurudev, and all the gifts we have; life itself is a gift.” — Swami Aniruddha

What to Expect

This is a beautiful and rewarding hike through nature, accessible to anyone with a good basic level of fitness. The path is well-marked and safe — not dangerous — and each day brings inspiring views and peaceful surroundings. We’ll walk approximately 10-15 kilometers per day, with an elevation gain of around 500-1000 meters. Over the course of the journey, we’ll cover more than 55 kilometers, mostly above 2000 meters, with some days reaching heights over 2500 meters. Two of the nights will be spent camping under the stars, so you’ll need some basic gear: a mat, sleeping bag, warm layered clothing, and ideally a small tent for rain protection. It’s a gentle adventure that brings you back to nature, breath, and the simple joy of presence — all within a supportive and uplifting Sangha.

The Spiritual Flow

Our days will be enriched with:
  • Atma Kriya Yoga practice
  • Satsangs and OM chanting
  • Kirtans and continuous japam
  • Pujas/abhishekams in nature and indoors
  • Yagna on the final day
  • Opportunities to bathe in crystal-clear mountain waters
These practices will take place in a variety of sacred spaces: in cozy lodges, on alpine trails, and beneath the open sky. This journey supports the Ashram projects in both Switzerland and Italy.

Teacher

Swami Aniruddha

Swami Aniruddha has walked the spiritual path for over 25 years. As a young man, he searched for fulfillment in the outer world but only found lasting peace after meeting his Satguru, Paramahamsa Vishwananda, in 2008. Since then, his life has been dedicated to spiritual practice, deep scriptural study, and sharing the timeless wisdom of Bhakti. Raised in the Italian Alps, Swami Aniruddha developed a deep love for nature and the mountains. For him, the natural world is a powerful and simple way to connect with the Divine and rediscover the Self. His mission is to uplift others by sharing his Master’s teachings and guiding seekers toward Divine Love.

Brahmachari Shraddhananda

Shraddhananda met Guruji in 2017 and became the BMCC for Switzerland a few years ago. However, his spiritual path began much earlier—already in his teenage years. Guided by his parents, driven by curiosity and a search for the meaning of life, and shaped by life’s challenges, all of this eventually led him to meet Guruji for the first time. His personal relationship with Guruji is that of a servant, as he believes that only through seva can one come closer to Guru and God. By sharing his personal experiences through the lens of Guruji’s teachings, he reminds us that suffering is temporary, and seva is a path of transformation and remembrance. Raised in the mountains of Slovakia, he became a true outdoorsman—embracing all forms of movement and sport that nature has to offer. Through this connection, he rediscovered a deep sense of inner alignment and a relationship to the Higher Self. For Shraddhananda, nature represents the simplicity and beauty of life—a space where one can deepen focus on Guru and God.

Location & Accommodation

This retreat through the Swiss Alps will be guided by Swami Aniruddhananda and Brahmachari Shraddhananda, beginning on 25 June and concluding on 29 June 2025. The journey starts and ends in Davos, a serene alpine town nestled in the heart of Graubünden, a region known for its wide-open valleys, wildflower-covered meadows, and dramatic mountain peaks.
